To all my fellow Californians, I hope you and all of your animals are safe after this large and scary earthquake. As a lifelong Californian , I am conscious of earthquakes and have been through quite a few but we tend to forget if there is a lot of time between them. In the late 80's we went through the 6.9 earthquake.
It was awful especially since the epicenter of the earthquake is less than a mile from our small farm.
When we have these earthquakes it is a good reminder to have supplies on hand. Livestock need feed and it is good to never be below a certain level just in case . A lot of times earthquakes knock power lines down and can drop bridges ,etc.. so you never know when it will be possible to go to the feed store. Be prepared and have enough feed to get through a couple of weeks . Yes , these earthquakes are awful but it is a good reminder to be prepared because we live on a dynamic earth and we need to be ready.
Please be safe.
