We have two mini horse mares and five working goats. They are all far to heavy and chubby. This is my fault because they only eat what I give them. In order to combat this problem , we have made a switch to grass hay instead of a wheat or grain hay. I have attempted this before with no success so I was a bit concerned about having the same problem. The horses are not as picky eaters as the goats . Goats are amongst the most picky eaters I have ever encountered. If a goat does not like something they will starve before touching it. However I picked up a bale of grass hay yesterday and to my amazement they ( both the goats and horses) seem to really enjoy it. This is wonderful ! Now we can start to slim down those chubby and fat bottoms. Farming is all about the small victories and this is one of those , a small victory.
